Hi I'm trying to find instructions for enabling the SPI port on the SD410 for a yocto build, i.e. have a device file in place such as /dev/spidev1.0 so that I can run the spidev_test user space application. I haven't found any instructions for doing this for the SD410. I did find some for the VAR-SOM-MX6, but they didn't work.
What I've already tried.
Configure your kernel and add spidev driver. Device Drivers -> SPI support -> <*> User mode SPI device driver support
I ran "bitbake rpb-console-image -c menuconfig", but got the following error

If menuconfig isn't an option, would manually editing any particular files achieve the same ends, and if so which files with what edits?
Add spidev to your device tree
I don't really know exactly what to add or where.
Compile the Linux kernel and device tree
Obviously, I have't gotten to this stage yet.
Lastly, if there's a different preferred way to communicate over the SPI port that Variscite has, I'm open to such.
