Android 5, 6 and partition size [ANSWERED]

Postby pierrelgcb » Mon Jun 26, 2017 3:04 pm

Hi,

I'm using VAR-SOM-DUAL with SoloCustomBoard and a custom board. When I flash both Android 5 or 6 on the SOM board from devkit to play with SoloCustomBoard, flashing step seems to work well as Android boots.

I flashed Android 5 with the recovery image (v51) on SOM board from factory (with custom board). Android started with glitches on screen.
After, I flashed Android 6 (v70). Now, Android stop booting with following errors :

Code: Select all

init: write_file: Unable to open '/proc/sys/kernel/sched_tunable_scaling': No such file or directory
init: write_file: Unable to open '/proc/sys/kernel/sched_latency_ns': No such file or directory
init: write_file: Unable to open '/proc/sys/kernel/sched_wakeup_granularity_ns': No such file or directory
init: write_file: Unable to open '/proc/sys/kernel/sched_compat_yield': No such file or directory
init: write_file: Unable to write to '/dev/cpuctl/cpu.shares': Invalid argument
init: write_file: Unable to open '/proc/sys/abi/swp': No such file or directory

init: /dev/hw_random not found
init: FSTAB: using file: /fstab.freescale
fs_mgr: __mount(source=/dev/block/mmcblk1p5,target=/system,type=ext4)=-1
fs_mgr: Failed to mount an un-encryptable or wiped partition on/dev/block/mmcblk1p5 at /system options: barrier=1 error: No such file or directory
fs_mgr: __mount(source=/dev/block/mmcblk1p4,target=/data,type=ext4)=-1
fs_mgr: fs_mgr_mount_all(): possibly an encryptable blkdev /dev/block/mmcblk1p4 for mount /data type ext4 )

When I try to flash recovery image Android 5 (v51) on factory SOM, I get the message

Code: Select all

sfdisk error #1! Partition is locked
please reboot to unlock and try again

1 - How can I unlock partition ?

2 - The devkit SOM board has 4 GB of eMMC while factory SOM board has 8 GB eMMC. Do I have to change partition size ?

Regards,
Pierre

Hi Pier,

Here is the log.

Edit : I use recovery image v70 to create partitions, which install Marshmallow 6.0.1_2.1.0 (kernel 4.1.15). After, I install my custom Marshmallow 6.0.1_1.0.0 (kernel 3.14.52) via fastboot. U-boot seems to be different, could it be the issue ?

Thanks,
Pierre

Hi Pierre,
your kernel is not recognizing eMMC:
mmc1: unrecognised EXT_CSD revision 8
but this has been fixed here:
https://github.com/varigit/linux-2.6-im ... 79361a1b20

Most likely the kernel is not aligned with latest commits of branch Marshmallow 1.0.0.
Please merge from branch
m6.0.1_1.0.0_variscite
of
https://github.com/varigit/linux-2.6-imx

Thanks

Hi Pier,

Thanks for the reply. I tried the patch but Android still stop at boot. I use VSM-DUAL-210.

I tried to flash recovery images :
- v51 => can't flash because of partition locked. I don't know how to unlock.

- v64 => flashing OK but don't boot. Error : mmc1: unrecognised EXT_CSD revision 8.
flash+boot_v64.log

- v70 => boot OK on SoloCustomBoard
- Flashing custom images (with mmc patch) over v70 images => Boot error.

Trying my custom images with VSM-DUAL-101 from Devkit works. Could I have corrupted partitions ?

Pierre

Hi Pierre,
Please do not try using recovery SD cards older than 70 since they do not provide eMMC revision fix.
Starting from recovery sdcard 70 the eMMC fix is included and should boot on any board.
Reading you log after using recovery 70 I cannot see any error.
I can see that your kernel boot just fine.

Hi Pier,

There was another mistake in fstab, pointing to mmcblk0 instead of mmcblk1. Now it boots.

Thanks for the analysis,
Pierre
