wlcore long startup

Postby PierreOlivier » Tue Mar 21, 2017 1:28 pm

I moved from Fido to Krogoth. Everything seems fine except Wi-Fi.
The starting time of Wifi is long! 60sec more than on Fido.

This is a dmesg on fido:
dmesg| grep wl
[ 24.328882] wl18xx_driver wl18xx.0.auto: Direct firmware load failed with error -2
[ 24.336526] wl18xx_driver wl18xx.0.auto: Falling back to user helper
[ 24.602757] wlcore: wl18xx HW: 183x or 180x, PG 2.2 (ROM 0x11)
[ 24.623922] wlcore: loaded
[ 24.626699] wlcore: driver version: yocto-1.8.2-1-gc53ddb2006
[ 30.954077] wlcore: PHY firmware version: Rev 8.2.0.1.233
[ 31.059609] wlcore: firmware booted (Rev 8.9.0.2.55)

and now on Krogoth:
dmesg| grep wl
[ 21.898121] wlan-en-regulator: disabling
[ 24.662486] wl18xx_driver wl18xx.0.auto: Direct firmware load for ti-connectivity/wl1271-nvs.bin failed with error -2
[ 24.673163] wl18xx_driver wl18xx.0.auto: Falling back to user helper
[ 85.062415] wlcore: wl18xx HW: 183x or 180x, PG 2.2 (ROM 0x11)
[ 85.091170] wlcore: loaded
[ 85.094119] wlcore: driver version: R8.6_SP1

I moved to krogoth, updating the kernel with 4.1.15_2.0.0 on your github's repo, and the my meta too.
Any Thoughts?

Best regards

Solution found, I had to modify ti-wifi-utils-wl18xx.bb, to add the file wl1271-nvs.bin to /lib/firmware/ti-connectivity/*. It fixed the startup time.

Return to “Yocto”
