Yocto NAND recovery not working

Postby r.pantaleoni » Fri Apr 14, 2017 7:19 am

Good morning,
I am trying to write the am33-som-nand_recovert-sd-Yocto-fido-20.img to an 8GB microSD card.
The command dd if=am33-som-nand_recovery-sd-Yocto-fido-20.img of=/dev/sdb bs=128k returns after 30 seconds with the following error:

dd: error writing "/dev/sdb": no space left on device
15323+0 records in
15322+0 records out
2008412160 byte (2,0 GB) copied, 31,7203 s, 63,3 MB/s

In spite of this error I tried to boot the target anyway. The board doesn't boot from SD (pressing the boot button while turning the board on), I can only see CCCCCC.

Where do I start to track the problem down?
Thanks

I could write a correct image to the 8GB microSD card using an utility in Windows: Win32DiskImager.
The system now boots correctly.
What's wrong with the dd command though?

Are you using linux-host under VM? - sometimes SD slot does not work correctly under VM. Solution is using usb-SD adapter. I had similar problem on one of my laptop, another laptop works well. Both are new.

Second - try to use cp command instead dd. For example for sdb (sd devise file, not partitions!)
$ cp filename.img /dev/sdb

Return to “Yocto”
